Structure for YMI 2010
The YMI 2010 will be divided into three sections. The entire duration of the 2008 Program stretches from the 4th of January to 31st January (28 days).
Section I: Training
Nature: Leadership, Equipping and Mission Training
Period: 4th – 10th January
Location: Kluang, Johor
Training & Coordination: Ps. Lim Jit Pang and Ps. Daniel Ng
Description: This section focuses on classroom-based teaching and development of skills for ministry. This includes having group devotion sessions, ministry skills and practical/classroom sessions on leadership and discipleship. Students will also be given mini-assignments and outreach opportunities in the local town.
Section II: Practical
Nature: Mission Assignment
Period: 11th – 26th January
Location: Assigned Towns
Field Leader and Coordination: Ps. Lim Jit Pang/ Ps. Daniel Ng
Description: This section enables students to put their ‘head knowledge’ into field practice. Students will be paired up (according to gender) and they will be assigned to a youth leader/pastor to which they will need to report to and work closely with to accomplish their assigned tasks/responsibilities. They will be assigned a family to stay with and will remain with that family for the entire period they are on assignment.
Some of the areas of ministry may include the following:
i. Sharing your testimony
ii. Leading a Bible Study group
iii. Sharing the Gospel (Good News)
iv. Leading worship/games
v. Giving out tracks
vi. Children + youth ministry
vii. Praying for the sick (and other forms of prayer)
Section III: Reporting Back
Nature: Back to Kluang for Debriefing
Period: 27th– 31st January
Location: Kluang, Johor
Description: This section is for the candidates to return back and prepare mission reports to both the Kluang church and for their own respective Sending Churches. This will also allow them to debrief and learn from mistakes/successes. They will need to present a short report both to the Youth Fellowship and on Sunday to the main church. After returning home, they will also be required to report back in their Sunday services.
